Research shows that female students who take AP computer science are more likely to major in computer science in college compared with matched peers. Through your leadership in diversifying computer science education, you’re preparing your female students for the in-demand jobs of the future and giving them the opportunity to help solve some of society's most challenging problems. " Again, congratulations. Thank you for your commitment to expanding access to computer science education. In accordance with the district's policies on disposal of school property we have an obligation to make this vehicle which was purchased with public funds available to the general public. The district is disposing of a 2014 Ford Escape. This 4 cylinder, 4-door Escape seats 5. The vehicle was purchased used in July of 2017 and had 28,720 miles on it at that time. The purchase price at the time was $17,149. The district utilized this vehicle regularly as it now has 187,208 miles on it. The district is removing it from its fleet after it blew a transmission a few months ago. It has been regularly maintained by a mechanic to that point, and has relatively new tires on it. If you work on cars, this might be a nice little vehicle, but to be clear, the vehicle would need a new or rebuilt transmission if you wished to make it road worthy again. We have an obligation to accept the best responsible bid. To express interest in the vehicle please see the district's website or click this link: https://forms.gle/eYrapzivBdf2irmD7

Good evening Tigers, this Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important message regarding an upcoming change to the district's calendar. Due to the upcoming Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024 and the potential travel complications that many government agencies are anticipating, the district will not be in session on April 8. This will be considered a calamity day. As of 1/23/24 we’ve now used three of the five allotted days, the first being the State Championship Football game day, #2 being this past Friday (January 19, 2024) and the third being the upcoming April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse day. Should we have further cancellations due to weather we have the ability to have 2 more calamity days before we would be required to start making up additional days. Should that come into play, we will, of course, communicate that out to the community. The school is working to obtain solar eclipse glasses for each of our students to offer protection and their ability to safely observe this very rare phenomenon. We will communicate how those will come home once we’ve obtained them. Further, the Darke County Libraries are also going to have solar eclipse glasses available for members of the community. Feel free to contact the Darke County Libraries for further information about their distribution plans. They do not have an unlimited supply of glasses, but certainly want to help their patrons to the degree they are able. For further information about the solar eclipse, feel free to go to https://www.greatamericaneclipse.com/ and Darke County’s Solar Eclipse website at https://www.visitdarkecounty.org/total-solar-eclipse-2024

Good Morning Tigers this is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important weather related message. Due to the timing of the snow and when it is expected to end, Versailles Schools will be closed today, January 19, 2024. Some of the state routes were actually worse than some of our back roads. Please be safe and have a great weekend. As a side note, we've had some issues brought to our attention over the last couple of days with some individuals not getting the all calls. If this happens to you, please contact the school so that we can find our what the issue is or was and make sure that we resolve it. We want to make sure that we are communicating clearly and we aren't always aware if someone didn't get a message.

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Versailles Exempted Village Schools are celebrating its board members for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students. Today's Board Member Highlight is on Jerry Shardo. Jerry Shardo is the newly elected Board Vice President. Mr. Shardo grew up in Willowdell and continues to live there. Jerry is a graduate of Versailles High School and has been married for 41 years to his high school sweetheart, Reyna, who works as the HS secretary for Versailles schools. The Shardos have 3 married children, Mindy, Joe, and Jeremy, and 8 grandchildren. Jerry was part owner of a local pallet shop for approximately 35 years until he sold out to his brother and nephew. Jerry continues to work part-time for them today and also runs a small used car business on the side. Jerry shared that he decided to become a Versailles school board member to simply give back and to do my part in keeping Versailles schools at the top of the pack.
